Guys hte river is hot ,last week we caught a sauger on almost every cast ,the river is back up now to 18ft ,fished the duck pond my buddy got a 3lb smallmouth and I lost a nice smallie at the boat .

The sauger were not biting as good today ...too much water coming out of the upper dam,way too rough for my little boat below the interperative center .

The sauger have just finished spawning .2 weeks ago the females had eggs in them ,last week the ones we caught had no eggs in them.This a late spawn for the sauger .They usually spawn in late Feb-Early march .I guess the river was up so high during this period it was the reason they spawned so late .Most of the sauger we have been catching have been the smaller males

It wont be long before the Big Hybrids start hitting on top water ...get a super Zara Spook and you will have a blast .Once the water comes down a bit .....We have caught a few 5 to 6 lbs hybrids in the mouth of Silver Creek in New Albany .....It has been an awesome spring on the Ohio River .I hope the summer pattern for the hybrids is just as hot at the lower spillway .
