I have used pfleugers before, and love them - you may want to look at the johnny morris signature spinning reel at BPS - it is pretty much a high end pflueger, and it is on sale now for fathers day. They are great. I also really like shimano's too.

Does anybody use Pflueger spinning reels? I'm a die hard Shimano fan but I've heard some say the line peels off the new spool design. I'm looking at the new Pflueger Supreme and wanted to get some input before I bought one.
Thanks

Is it all of the new reels or just a certain model? Any idea on what type of line they are having trouble with?
I have heard some people having trouble with shimanos, actually all spinning reels when spooling flourocarbon. You need to really make sure you don't overspool with fluoro on a spinning reel - and it is very easy to overspool a shimano, especially stradic. I wouldn't stray away from them though, they are great reels, just need to be careful spooling with Fluoro. The only thing I would be concerned with shimano spinning reels is their drag. If you fish in heavy rain, the gear in the drag is not sealed and will get wet causing it to be really loose. I have only seen this in the stradics.
I use the Presidential series and like them so much that I will never buy anything else again! Never had any problems other than your standard line twist that comes with any spinning reel. I have a Shimano Sahara and have had numerous problems with the bail spring and some associated plastic parts. Still use it, nice reel, but nothing compared to the Pflueger.
Keep on chuckin'
Well, that explains are problem a couple weeks ago down at lake Cumberland. I have 2 of the stradics 2500, I had just put the fluorocarbon on them, one for me and one for my son. my son kept having problems with his, I thought he was casting to hard, so I tried mine and sure enough, it did the same thing after you cast, line would keep feeding off and then you had knots lots of them. I would have never thought there was to much line on them. great post. now I just have to figure out how not to put to much line on them
I have a pfleuger on my ultra light, that small reel with a g-loomis pan fish rod is sweet. I can't speak for the larger ones as I only have Shimanos with the same line problem as others with stiff line but the drag is excellent on the pfleuger that I have. I only have the unraveling problem on my Shimano if I use stiff line. P-line CX Premium works great though I never had a problem with it, use stiff line and over spool it you will want to throw it in the lake by the end of a short day.
I used to own a Supreme, it was a pretty good reel. I Have all Shimanos now and love them. The new ones are very nice, but it is easy to put too much line on for sure, and that is when problems can occur. I'd suggest Shimano first, and then Pflueger as a number 2 choice.
What makes it so easy to overspool these new Shimano reels? Have they changed them that much? My older ones are just fine.
I have the New Johnny Morris Signature Reel and 2 of last years Pro Qualifer. I use Fluorcarbon on them both and I have no problems at all. I love the New JM Signature reel. It is smooth and the bigger spool really makes a difference. I know I'll get flack for saying this but IMO, it is the best reel out there for under a $100 and right now it is $79.
The lip on the spool isn't straight to the edge like they used to be. They redesigned it to make line cast off of it easier, which it does a great job at that. It is easy to do the first time you spool it up, but after that you realize. There actually is a fairly big difference in the design of the spool. The older ones are awesome, and always will be. The newer ones, just take a little adjusting to from the old, but are just as good if not better. I haven't heard of any other "problems" with these reels.
For the price, the Pfleuger president is the best spinning reel you can buy, in my opinion.
