I fished the KBF Qualifier Sunday, The meeting at Pittsburgh marine went pretty quickly. Jim, one of the owners I think was on hand to sell oil and Rangers or whatever. I drew a great guy Mr Larry Gault we had a great time. Anyway after we got paired up I realized that I didn't have a sit down seat for Larry's boat. ( I am disabled and probably don't have any business even fishing the KBF because my standing and walking is very limited) I asked around and everyone had the old pin or screw type and none would work. I went to Jim to see If I could borrow one from a used boat of theirs and after searching could not find a used one but he did let me use one out of a new Ranger. With out that seat I would not have been able to fish. If he treats his customers as well as he treated me then he should have a lot of repeats.
Thanks again Jim amd Pittsburg Marine

Shouldn't be the responsibility of the boater to make sure he has a seat for the non-boater?
Hold on there Geobass. How would a non-boater know what type of seat they would need if it's a draw tournament? The boater should always ask if the non-boater needs a seat, if so they should provide it, if not than the boater can leave it out. It's like asking the non-boater to bring his own net. Thats part of the problem we have getting non-boaters, their not being thought of as part of the team. They are just important as boaters wanting to use their own boat and not fish with another boater. Just my thoughts. I always have a seat available if it is needed.
I also have either a Butt seat or a regular fold down type for any non-boaters I might draw out. I ask them which they prefer and I will bring the one they want to use for the day.......No sense in having ill will towards a guy who might have some sort of special need to fish out of a boat as a non-boater.
I'm also disabled from 5 back surgeries and I can't sit down while fishing and must lean back against my butt seat for comfort.
He offered a but seat but that isnt an option for me. Most dont people dont use a seat at all. I have brought my own sometimes but it wouldnt have worked either.
I have to disagree on this one. As a boat owner, you are the one that has the seats. My boat came with both seats, bike and sit-down. I understand that not all fisherman have the same preferences, and in this case some may have some medical issues that may require them to sit. Out of courtesy I always ask the co-angler which type of seat they would like at the draw. Now should the rules state it is the responsibility of the boater to provide an adequate seat - No. However, that is not going to stop me from being a decent person and make sure my partner for the day is comfortable, and enjoys the experience.
