I only put in small boats 14 ft jons or less. I think if your itching to go give it a try because we always did well there. It's nice to go and not have 20 boats zippin around you.![]()

Has anyone ever put in at the ramp below High Bridge? What is it like? How far out does it go? Is it safe for a 18 ft. boat? I only live a few miles from it, and I want to try it out, but I want some info on it first.
Thanks,
Taylor

I have only put canoes in there, but I have seen several 18-20 ft. boats launching there, So I think you will be fine.
Put in many times there. Ramp is cement that was poured out onto the ground; rough/crude but good traction. An 18 foot jonboat would be easy, a large fiberglass a little trickier but not if you have four wheel drive. Not sure how long the ramp is since my boat "floats up" quickly. You could bring a pair of hip boots if you want to walk it out. Water in river is deep since its only 100 yards above the dam. Water is pretty safe with a few stumps and shallow water 100yards before High-Bridge. Have a good time.
My buddy puts his 21' Bullet in there.
Well I actually only have a 16 foot fiberglass boat. I was just wanting to know just how safe it was. I figured if it was safe for a 18 footer then I shouldnt have any trouble. Also I only have a 2 wheel drive truck, will I be alright? Thanks for the information and suggestions. I will be trying it out real soon. It may become my new fishing home, since gas prices have gotten so high.
Heck man it's about to get higher! You might have more company than expected.![]()
Where exactly is the ramp? Is it on the Shakertown side or the Wilmore side? Is it right below the bridge, between the bridge and the downstream lock, or somewhere else? I appreciate any update as to the location. GPS coordinates would be awesome if available.
Here's a link to a listing of all the ramps maintained by KDFWR:

Individual listings include longitude and latitude. Here's the one for High Bridge:

Good luck, and please come back and let us know how you like it. HIgh Bridge (Palisades) is on my short list of Kentucky River spots to explore.
Perfect. Thanks RoadToad. I'll post whenever I get back.
I like a four wheel drive down there.
The coordinates given looks like the ramp would be in the High Bridge Park, just upstream of the river on the bank opposite the Dix River. Is that correct? Has anybody ever had any problems with people messin with your truck when you're on the river? Why the 4-wheel drive, angle of the ramp, river snot on the ramp or both? Thanks again guys.
