Water pump going bad?

I've got a Envinrude 50 that's 1989 model. It's been great and had no problems until Friday when I was idling waiting to load up. All of a sudden I hear this strange noise coming from somewhere eaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh. I shut over the engine!! Not restarting it but just turning the key it comes back on so I turn back the key and drop the trolling motor back out and load up the hard way.

I did notice that day that while I was just idiling that my motor wasn't peeing (so to speak but once I had it in gear it was fine). I normaly don't just sit there and idle but I'm guessing this is a problem since the alarm was going off.

Anyone ever have to deal with this? If so what all did you do and what did it run?

when was the last time the water impeller was replaced? i haven't done mine, but it's on my list. rebuild kit probably runs about $30 from stokely's.

You either have a plugged up water line or a bad impeller. If it aint "peein'", don't run it. If you run it much w/o water circulation, you'll bust a head or a cylinder. EVERY time I start my moter, my first move is to check the water flow.
