I second that. I'm a 100% believer that they can pop out of gear now for sure. Scary stuff right there. Be careful

Just wanted to remind everyone that when your on the ramp with your boat and trailor to be aware of how safe your vehicle is with the parking brake on and the vehicle in park. The tow vehicle could pop out of gear so if your truck has any tranny/brake issues you might want to bring a chok block to keep from doing damage to your property with a free wheeling tow vehicle in reverse. We had that happen to some fellas over the weekend and it was a fluke incident but it can happen (no fault of theirs, just mechanical failure)....so be aware especially you guys who fish alone.![]()

Dang. Happen at Willisburg? That ramp is pretty steep.
Don, I was just telling you that story about the truck underwater on the ramp at Linville a few years back! Of course, I think...errr, know...that alcohol was involved with those boys.
Be careful, that's for sure. Wheel chock might not be a bad idea.
Brian,
Yep, during our weigh in but it was just a weird unfortunate accident.
I also had a friend who almost had the truck roll over him as he stepped out to talk to his buddy and the open door knocked him down as the truck popped out of gear and rolled backwards. So it can be down right deadly! I think when I'm alone I'm going to use a block behind the wheel....it can't hurt.
last year i put in at grove marina on laurel just to mess around one eve and see if i could catch any fish and as i was putting in there was an older guy puttin his fish and ski in and havign alot of trouble he had a rope tied to his cleat and he back down and the rope went under his tire and i asked the man if he needed help and he was like NO I GOT IT.. so i put my boat in and parked the truck.... well i got back to my boat and asked the guy again and he was like no i can get it.. he said he had just bought a house boat adn was taking stuff out to it and what not so i got in my boat and fired up and idled off maybe 100 yards and i heard a big splash and screaming i turned around and all i could see was the tahoe and boat sinking in the lake then the guy started yelling suzie or something like that so i blasted off in the marina came off plane and was throwing stuff out of my pockets i thought there was a kid or something in there i yelled at the guy whos suzie and he was like my dog and by the time i got there the vehicle and boat were both submerged and the boat was an aluminum fish adn ski... so i went to jump in and the guy was like its just my dog its gone... they ended up having to call in divers to come hook the tow truck up to his tahoe and boat. when they finally got it out i seen the guy and i was told him i was sorry and he wished he would have let me help him but it was bad his wife and kids were there shew i hope that never happens to me.....
When I take my son or family, I always make them get out and stand by the dock while I am launching. I leave the windows down just in case if something freaky happens while I'm in the truck. Parking brake engaged, and now after reading this post I think I'll be adding a chalk block to the equation. Good luck everyone and be safe.![]()
