Maybe you guys already knew about this, but I just saw on the Kentucky Afield show on 6/21 that the KDFWR stocked the upper parts on the Cumberland River with lake sturgeon. I thought it was really interesting, but I can't seem to find much about it anywhere else. The only mention I found of it was from the Wisconsin State Journal (the fertilized eggs came from Wisconsin). Since they take 20 years to reach sexual maturity, they're planning on stocking some of them every year for 20 years, to establish 20 year classes. Pretty ambitious. It'll be interesting to see how it all turns out.

Wisconson has a season for them usually in sept.We used to fish below the dam at sauk city,night crawlers and a big sinker to hold it near the bottom.I caught one legal one years ago, We turned it loose, but tere is one heck of a wrestling match involved with landing one of them.Mine was 44 inches long, two inches over the trhe minimum.That place is where you may also catch a huge spoonbill doing the same thing.
