    Taylorsville..."The Dead Zone"

It's been awhile since I posted...'bout 8 years. I've recently got back to fishing in KY and I need a little help on the latest info.

I've seen mixed reports on Taylorsville. Is it over-fished and a "Dead-Zone" or as the last report I read indicated you can have a good trip? I'm looking to Bass fish.

I would appreciate any info you can share.

This time of year the Bass fishing is tough, you'll catch usually short fish during the day. But in the early morn's and evening and thru the night you can catch some keepers. The big ones are in the deep water, so you'll need to think deep if you want to catch anything of size....

Now if you just want to go catch some fish and have some fun...Hit the banks with a Mepps spinner, Agilia In-line spinner, beetle spins or use a wax worm under a float. You'll catch a variety of fish to take home and eat if you like.....

I've fished there three times in the last month. I've caught only 4 keepers and not even a whole lot of dinks. We had a co-worker tourney there last saturday and had 5 teams. One fish was weighed in... 2.1 lbs and 15.25". And it wasn't mine ... ! Good luck and let us know how you do. It's one of the closest lakes to me and one I will be fishing pretty regularly because of the price of gas.

Ive heard about some issues with the thermocline being around 10ft., im not sure about this because i havnt been there in so long but if thats true that would eliminate alot of water and stress alot of fish, probably making it tough for bigger fish to survive. I'd like to hear from a fisheries biologist or someone who has done a study on this lake and find out whats goin on with it

    Re: Taylorsville..."The Dead Zone"

I plan on going there Thursday morning when I get off work. I am taking my kick pontoon so I wont be able to cover alot of water. I have fished Taylorsville pretty regularly since 2002 and have always been pleased with my results. I have fished anywhere from 1ft to 30ft deep depending on the conditions. I plan on spending most of tomorrow morning near the state ramp and I am fishing with small lures. It is more for getting used to my kick pontoon that fishing. I will post my results.
