Smile Brothers and I decided - Green River Lake..

I know nothing about this body of water, other than it looks beautiful in pictures.

The brothers and I decided to go down and try it out later in the month. What I would like to know from my fellow fishermen here is, what to do to get on some fish. does anyone here know the lake well? I understand there is a good smallie population in the lower end.

What is the pleasure boat traffic like out there?

Guys, any help you can provide would be great. I can help anyone with the local lakes, Herrington, the River, Cedar, T'ville, etc.. but need help with this one.

    Cajun,

On the weekends in the summer, the pleasure boat traffic can actually be pretty stout. I haven't been down there since back in the cold weather this year, but I'd suspect that with gas prices a lot of folks are staying local and a lake like Green may have its fair share of pleasure traffic.

I usually put in at Smith Ridge. It's a real simple ramp with good parking. I usually fish more up towards that end of the lake anyway...really like the Robinson Creek arm. In the summer, I've had good results during the typical times - Early AM, Late PM, and at night. Jigs, T-Rig Worms, Crankbaits, and Spinnerbaits...the usual suspects. My first tastes of bass fishing as a kid were on that lake, so there's a tender spot in my heart for Green River.

Shoot, if you can fish Herrington and Taylorsville, Green River Lake is a walk in the park! LOL Just keep it simple and do what you do. You'll find fish.

    Good luck!

Haven't got to fish much myself this year, but did go down to the tuesday night weigh in a couple of weeks ago, it took 16.05 pounds (3 fish all small mouth) don't know what the guys were doing to catch them. Most of the guys coming in to the shop are buying 10'' worms and fishing the deeper structure on the lake. As for the lake traffic not bad on the week day, weekends get a little crowded in the early part of the day and afternoon, mornings and nights are not bad.

    Good luck
