    KY Afield fans (Hope)

    this release from KDFWR:

Frankfort, Ky. – The face that touched four decades of “Kentucky Afield” television returns for a guest appearance this weekend, July 26 and 27.

Anyone baiting a hook or squirrel hunting between 1957 and 1980 was likely a faithful viewer of Hope Carleton Sr. This weekend, the legend joins current host Tim Farmer on Cumberland River below Barkley Dam. The duo fish for striped bass, but they also catch a few memories.

Elsewhere, they say it can’t be done - catching crappie in July. The trick is in the technique. Scott County’s David Rodgers shows Farmer that it only begins with holding your mouth right.

“Kentucky Afield” is a production of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It is the longest continuously-running outdoor television show in the nation. The program airs Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern /7:30 p.m. Central and is repeated Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central on KET 1. That sounds like a great episode; thanks for the heads-up. I'm relatively new to KY fishing, still learning the ropes, and looking for information sources. KY Afield tv show and magazine are both top notch!

Bring Back Shuffett. He was a real hoot. Famer's a bit stiff.
