Thanks for the great post. I was on the river Wed and Thurs morning from about 6:30 AM to 1:00 PM
The bite turned off completely once the sun was really up.
I too caught a softshell turtle a couple of trips ago. I could never figure out what the heck was on my line till I got him up to the boat.
I haven't had luck in catching skips up by the hydros. Tried a Sabiki rig and that didn't work. Continued on catfishing with livers sprinkled with Garlic Salt. Caught more than we wanted to clean so let all of them back into the river A.S.A.P. Practiced catch and release both days.
We caught several 5 to 7 pound whites/stripers below the hydros on Wed. morning on livers. What a fight they make in that current!!
I launch from the New Albany ramp. Today the New Albany Fire and Rescue squad were practicing some drills. I apologize to any people on that squad, but it sure looked like Larry and his two brothers Darryl and Darryl trying to recover their inflatable. I just idled away from the ramp watching their circus.
