Hey guys,
Just wanted to report that the white bass "jumps" I got into this weekend on KY Lake were unbelievable! I haven't seen jumps like that in over 10 years! It was nonstop for well over an hour Saturday evening...and they were still going when I left! The jumps were going on in about 3 or 4 ft of water, along the edge of a grass bed in the back of a bay. From what I saw, the fry were balled up and moving in and around the grass beds, the whites were rounding them up like cowboys into a tight ball and would then explode on them! It was not only whites, but yellows, and small largemouths. A white grub was the lure of choice and produced a fish on dang near every cast! I put two grubs on and was catching them two at a time!
If you have never experienced the excitement of the white bass "jumps", you better get out there while the gettin's good!
I got into them good last week. I was targeting LM, and happened upon a jump of whites that lasted for over 30 minutes. I had a big spoon on I was dropping down ledges, and thought I would give it a try with the whites. I was nailed within5-10 seconds of every cast. Fun stuff.
