Was flipping the channels yesterday and say KY Afield was on and they were below some dam. I was watching what I assume were the Asian carp flying through the air. Tim did take a shot at a gar but I would like to go shoot those carp out of the air. That looks like a ball of redneck fun. Went bowfishing Friday night on the Ohio and shot a butt load of carp between two of us, biggest was about 30 pounds or so.

i think they were on cumberland below kentucky or barkley not familiar with that area but i beleive that is where he was so im not sure which lake. it is amazing how many of those asian carp were there. i hope they dont over poulate and make of affect the other speices that live in our water
I saw a show once and there were two guys sitting in chairs side by side and taking turns shooting those Asian Carp out of the air with arrows. It was up on the Illinois River I think and this guide would take a couple of guys out and just run the boat up the river. These things would jump way out of the water right behind the boat and these two guys were having a blast shooting them out of mid air.
this the video?

Hate to say it boys, but once these asian carp get started, they are hard to reduce. I'm originally from Illinois and live right near the Illinois River and these things are bad. ESPN came down a few years ago and filmed a segment on them. Every year we have a "redneck" fishing tournament to where boats go out of Bath, IL for a few hours and as many asian carp as you can come back with in your boat from the carp jumping in them decalres you the winner. I talked to a buddy who worked for the DNR and he said they are overtaking the amount of biomass in the river. There is some of a market for them in Asia, but here they are junk fish.
I wish someone could come up with a way to catch them using hook and line because they look like they'd be a blast to fight!
Plain, old regular carp are great fighters for that matter.
I used to snag them during snagging season in the fossil beds from the Ind. side, but do to some greedy spoonbillers....no more snagging in Ind......They make great fertilizer.
Maybe shotgunning for asian carp could be a redneck olympic sport.

I was on the Illinois River last summer. My brother is a game warden up there. The carp are all up and down the river but there are spots where they school up.I saw a show once and there were two guys sitting in chairs side by side and taking turns shooting those Asian Carp out of the air with arrows. The fish are spooked by the boat motor and jump, which means they jump way behind the boat. To get the fish to jump the way they did in that video you are talking about they ran a couple boats a little bit in front of and to the sides of the shooting boat. That way the fish jumped right next to the guys shooting.
It has been said the meat is a flakey white meat that is supposed to taste pretty good. The fish just have a bunch of bones all through out it.
