    bait for minnow trap

    wats the best thing to use as bait in a minnow trap? ive heard dog food, bread, onions, wat works best?

    Hey Boman,
    Bread works very well if you ball it up. Ill take 2 or 3 slices and tear them into pieces and ball them up. If you just throw them into the bait trap without balling it up,it just falls apart and goes right through the trap.
    If you have the round or oval shape one you might want to queeze the ends together. I know that small minnows or smaller bluegills will get right out of it. Hope this works for you.

    well i have alot of experience w/ live bait traps, and to this day NOTHING CAN COMPARE to STYROFOAM!!!!!!!!! yes... STYROFOAM! just break a piece into small sizes so they wont fall out,a nd bait fish LOVE THEM!!! sometimes ill throw in a few tiny pieces of chicken breast also (for a scent)

    give it a try... you wont be disappointed
