Well one thing for sure I'm checking my policies to see what I really have.![]()

I just figured I'd drop a line and give you an idea of what's going on with my state farm claim.
I talked to my State Farm Claims adj yesterday, and she said we were all GOOD, and that we could take care of things a couple different ways. She said I could request a check from State Farm for the CALCULATED loss minus my $100.00 deductible, or I could use their replacement services for the CALCULATED loss, and pay my $100.00 deductible to my agent.
I chose to use their replacement service, and pay the 100 bucks to my agent. THIS was a FANTASTIC CHOICE, since they have deals with all kinds of places and can leverage their volume purchasing power to drive down the prices.
Long story short........I replaced my gear with BETTER stuff, and STILL saved them money.
I'm not going to name the replacement companies they work with, but they are BIG name brand companies, and they were able to replace my gear with NO PROBLEMS.
I've said it once, and I will say it again........
STATE FARM ROCKS........
To say the least, I'm a fairly happy camper.

just curious... did you tell them you left it @ the ramp, or that it was STOLEN out your boat in order for them to cover it? cause if they replaced gear you left behind i REALLY NEED that kinda coverage myself.. i tend to forget things all the time
I told them EXACTLY what happened............I was loading, and in the heat of trying to get off the ramp, and to clean fish, I LEFT the fishing poles leaning against a log.......when I went back later to get them...........they were GONE.
Loss is Loss.....and I will admit, this is NOT the first BONEHEAD thing I've done to lose fishing equipment.
A couple years ago, I was fishing a southern Indiana lake in about 30mph winds.......Small lake, but I was constantly on the trolling motor. Well, long story short......I had a jig hanging over the side of the FRONT of the boat, and jumped on the trolling motor to make a quick turn........AND you KNOW what happened next.....
The jig, which was attached to a FANTASTIC G Loomis IMX flippin stick, got caught in the motor, loaded up the rod, and the next thing I know FLIP......out it went. I SAW the rod literally flying OUT of the boat. It was like SLOW MOTION. I was really HONKED off, but was not going to let it ruin my fishing trip.
WHAT ruined my trip was when I realized it also took a couple more rods that were not tied down, and managed to get caught up and wrapped around the other rod.....
This was nearly 10 years ago........AND State Farm also covered THAT claim.

Well I'll write them off of my list of getting a fair quote! Your claims alone will cause the rates to go up! LOL![]()
THE really funny think was when I went to pay the deductible to my agent, he was there, and kind of made some FUN of me........said something to the fact...........what, did you lose YOUR BOAT this time......
It was all in jest, but the way he said it, it was REALLY, REALLY funny.

i gotta get insurance! how much you pay a year or 6 mo?
I think I might pay 100 bucks for my rider on the gear...........
It is a little different than most riders, as I wanted to cover my fishing gear while in a canoe, or wade fishing, etc, etc..........Make sure you specify EXACTLY what type of fishing you do.
Like I said before......I'm probably over insured, but that is what insurance is for........to GUARANTEE coverage......
There is like a 1 in a million chance of sustaining damages from an earthquake in this location, but you know what........I HAVE earthquake insurance, and I have burst pipe insurance, and I have flood insurance, even though I'm not in a flood plain, and I have a rider on my electronics, and I have a rider on jewels, etc, etc.........
AND my agent created a category just for me............BONEHEAD insurance......it covers all non covered stuff........![]()

Glad to see everything is working out for you. You were pretty mad to say the least when your poles grew legs and vanished. It still does not cover the fact that someone took something that was not theirs. Hope they get what they deserve.
I guess this means Geolabs is covered under the Geofisher State Farm Umbrella policy. They need to put a wear and tear clause on you big time bro. It's a good thing your handy.
