I was watching a show a few months ago that was being filmed in Canada. They were catching Walleye left and right and the lake was known for Walleye and Pike. One of the guys hooked a 3lb Walleye and was bringing it to the boat and right next to the boat, the cameraman was zooming in on the fish when about a 15lb Northern Pike inhaled the Walleye. The Walleye was barely visible outside the Pike and the guy went on to land the Pike. They were so confused as to what to do and decided to cut the line and let the Pike go with the partially inhaled Walleye in his mouth. The Pike obviously had room to go ahead and swallow the Walleye so there was no danger in the fish being killed. Pretty cool to see on the tube.

I was fishing a local creek years ago and hooked a smallmouth about 8" and while reeling it in (I could see it) another smallmouth tried to swallow my hooked one. It looked to be about 13" but it let go once I got it closer to the bank. Mean critters...

At green River Lake, a crappie on the line is a Muskie strike ready to happen. Had to change my shorts the fist time i reached down to grab my crappie and got a eyefull (and almost a handfull) of muskie!

I've seen pretty much the same thing as the picture ... back when I was a kid, my Grandparents & I were on Herrington. My Grandpa netted a 4lb Bass with a 2lb bass in its mouth. We seperated the two and put them back. One of my first lessons in sportsmanship.
Many years later, fishing on Cumberland in the Fall ... my late fishing buddy and I were nailing KY's at the knobs, on topwater. Had a dink KY nail my bait, and when pulling him in .... BAM ... a Smallmouth came by and ripped him right off the hooks ... LOL !!
Two different times, buddies of mine and I were fishing Herrington, casting cranks for Bass ... and we ended up catching big Bluegill & Warmouth.

Fish will eat whatever they can get their mouths around, regardless of whether or not their stomachs will hold it ... LOL!! But, I think you are right, Todd ... he does seem to have bitten off more than he can chew !!

I hate to admit this but last week I caught a 3" lm bass on a 4" crankbait. Me and my buddy laughed for a while on this one. Aggressive little fish!

Some of the big cats I get out of the river have regurgitated 4 and 5# buffalo and carp it's amazing, and a bummer knowing you just lost that off your total weight. And some people still smirk when they see me using a 15in. whole skip for bait.....that's just an appetiser ..lol

Thats a pretty cool picture right there. I saw a huge striper try to inhale a schoolie striper on lake cumberland once, that was something to see.

It's amazing to me being in the lure manufacture business that bass fisherman in different parts of the country think differently when it comes to the size of lures they use. We don't sell as many of our 4 inch Gizz 4's to bass fisherman up here, but down south these lures arent big enough for them. In Alabama, Texas and other southern states, that size lure is working well but up here we get requests for 1 inch crankbaits. We settled for a Gizz 3. It's hard to figure it out.

That's a great picture!! As a kid fishing up in Ontario, Canada I caught a bass maybe a 1 1/2lb on a live frog which was pretty good size when when I got it to the shore there was something black and furry down it's throat I took it to my dad who took a pair of pliers and pulled out a large field mouse I've never forgot that and have also seen or heard of some big bluegills being attacked while bringing them in by big bass. Once caught a 5 1/2 lb smallie while fishing a muskie spinnerbait that was amazing also. No lure is to big for a hungry fish.

I'm a firm believer that large baits = large fish. All of my bass over 6lbs have come off live bluegill in the 5-6" range. One of my hot spots I "chum" the water with bread and schools of bluegill come up. I catch one throw it on a 5/0 circle hook, continue chumming and wait for a bass come by. Im convinced that since this pond has ducks and people often feed them bread, the bluegill have learned to eat the bread, and the bass are soon to follow to eat the gills!

One time I was catching bait with roostertails and had a little crappie on when a big bass came up and ate it and got stuck on the hook. My 4lb line broke. I caught the same bass later that evening on a large bluegill and he still had my roostertail!
