My daughters absolutely slaughter fish with those little pink poles! They've never failed to catch a fish with those poles no matter where we went...Cumberland lake, Dix River, Cedar Creek, Cumberland River and tons of ponds. In fact since they're so small and easy to carry I carry in the trunk of the car and the back of the jeep (but I bought Scooby Doo poles) for when I have an extra minute and I'm near water.
I went to a funeral visitation once in south central KY and on the way I passed a pond in some small community. On the way back through I pulled over and fished for 20 minutes in my suit and tie and caught several fish...all with a Scooby pole and a white rooster tail. You never know when you'll find yourself fishing!
That's typical huh? Blind luck wins again! That little girl might have thrown the rod if she had that Hoss hooked.
It just goes to show the big $$ rigs dosent always bring in the bigg uns. A friend of mine caught a wall hanger on a zebco 303 bought at Wal mart for $20.00. Go figure.
I've seen enough of my grandfather's pictures to know that expensive gear isn't necessary for big fish. Plenty of big cats, big bass, and big walleye on old Zebcos and Mitchells.
