    Ky/Barkley lodging

Planning a first trip to the big lakes in mid-October and need a fisherman friendly place to stay.

I have a small boat (15ft) and will have to do some trailering around to fish. Any ramps close to decent fishing / any ramps to avoid.

    Many Thanks, Ray

I'd look at the Microtel in Grand Rivers. Very close to Patti's. Oh, and the lake too.

Hillside Cottages is about a mile from Barkley Dam. Friendly, decent accomodations with a location that is just a quick drive to many ramps on both lakes. Also stayed at Kenoak resort in aurora and had a nice stay here as well. This is just a mile from 68 bridge on Ky lake, but you would have access to both lakes, plus Energy lake. have fun!

    Re: Ky/Barkley lodging

Thanks a lot for the suggestions.

I can't wait to finally get to fish down there. We are used to tough fishing so I know we will have a great time no matter what.

Dave, We just need a simple hotel room or a small cabin for less than $100 a night. I wish you had a open date when we get there, would really like to learn the lakes with you.

    Thanks again, Ray

I like the Early American Motel in Aurora. It's not much $55 including taxes for one night and it's not much more than camping + hot shower. Tell Mable I sent you and you might get a multi night discount.

Some good suggestions on here from the folks. The Bel Air is a really good place to stay if you want a small motel...nice folks...clean..near the Ky Dam Marina. October is off season rates for the resorts...you should be able to get a lodge rooom or cabin at The Moor's for less than 100.00 a night, plus you are on the water there. I would go for Gingerwood for a cabin off the water.
I do have a few open dates in mid October and would be happy to take you out....but you need to book the date soon or I will be booked up.

The lodge rooms at the Moors are right around 80.00 this time of year and are very clean. Very close to some good water.
