    Stones

Well thank God I got back from my Quetico trip smacking all those smallmouth(thanks Sarge for the hair jigs, they thumped them). Get home for 1 day and then for the 3rd time in my 58 years kidney stones decide to kick my azz. I spent 7 days in the hospital with stones too big to pass and an infection in my left kidney they said was life threatening so they couldn't bust them up. A week on morphine drip and some times even that didn't stop the pain. They let me go home with drugs and the soonest they will operate is Oct 15th so here I sit with a stint in so I can pee and a real dread every time I feel like I have too. I tried to think of someone I could wish these on and in my life I haven't met anyone I would do that too. I would even vote for McCain/Palin too get rid of these damned things If a Dr. tells you guys to cut back on dairy or red meat or your beer PLEASE listen to him I wouldn't want any of ya to go thru this. Mine are so big they may have to cut the kidney to fix which my Dr. said had a 50% chance of losing the kidney. Well enough of my rambling off to the pisser I go,If you hear a scream ignore the man behind the curtain

Man that's bad. I had them once and it was 2 weeks of misery but you sound like a worse case than me. Worst pain I ever knew! It must be bad for McCain/Palin to get your vote.
Be safe Joe all the best to you. At least you had a good time hitting them smallmouth.

Sarge the walmart heads 1/8 oz with just plain old bear hair . I trimmed the hair back just a litte and used a 2' black uncle josh U-2 porkrind. We were in Quetico so catching smallmouth is not that tuff but catching quality smallies is pretty tuff sometimes. I used an old Lowrance green box depthfinder (what I learned on) and found humps in the lake up to 8' with 30-80 ft around it most of the big smallies were in 15-18' on the wind blown side of the hump the tricky part was keeping the canoe from blowing over the hump. We found a small inlet off the main lake the wind was blowing into the smallie were so thick you could not lay your rod across the gunnels with the bait hanging they actually jumped up to get the lure. We caught many northern as well up to 38" helluva lotta fun in a canoe. Again thanks be to God for allowing me to get home b4 the pain started. My buddy had a heart attack about 8 years ago but he would have paddled his arse off to get me back 1 1/2 days solid paddling nonstop!!! Highlight of the trip, seeing a Wolf 14' from where we were sitting one evening enjoying a little Jack Daniels and a fire. It was Gray& BIG and long legs. to show his contempt for Dale and I camping on his spot he left us a pile two nights in a row about 5' from our tent....

Thanks Joe, glad they worked out for you...I still got some of the Bear Hair left over in case you need some more jigs down the road...I bet I tied close to 200 different jigs, from Crappie jigs to Bass jigs from Jan. to Mar. and April this year..... got the deal down just right, or so it would seem to me that is.....

Did you really say cut back on beer?

Seriously Joe, glad you had a good trip and got that done before the pain set in. Atleast it didn't happen in the backcountry and hope everything works out soon.

My Dr. said only 1-2 beers no more. So I figured 7 days in the hospital 7 days at home miserable no taste for beer that means I can drink 28 beers tommorow That Dr. is a good man. In all honesty Sat night I was in pain so i ate two Oxycodones and drank a beer thought I was going to need help out of the recliner. 14 days and counting till surgery man this is bullchit. When I am too miserable to fish times are bad. Hopefully I can get past this about the time the water temps go down. I can't wait to chuck those hairjigs and Silver Buddies not to mention th F-N-F...Go Cubs

    Joe,
Just imagine if we had Barry Healthcare? You think 2 weeks is a long time? Imagine what the gubment that runs our economy into the dirt and any other program into the dirt will do for the healthcare system. Heck, you might go in to get those stones removed and come out speaking a few octaves higher and shopping at Victoria Secret for underwear! Yep your stones are gone!! LOL...Sorry about that Joe it was below the belt...hehehe

Good luck with the surgery. My brother had kidney stones, and he swears it's the worst pain a man can have.

5 minutes in the time out chair for you Don.
