Fellas, I'm asking for a favor

I'm leaving in the morning to be with my Dad before his two days of surgery. Tomorrow he has the Carotid Artery Surgery where they open them up and scrape the plaque out and then Wednesday he has his triple bypass heart surgery and while their in there they will repair or replace three weak valves.
Dad is 75 years old, 30 year Navy man, never complains and will give you the shirt off his back and then some he is just a good old Georgia farm boy...best man I have ever known and I Love him with all my heart.
So if you could send us a few prayers I would really appreciate it. This has me and the family tore up because of his age and the complications of him coming off blood thinner meds for this surgery. The last attempt at this surgery resulted in a stroke and he recovered well but we pray that it doesn't happen again. Thanks a bunch and I'll keep you posted once I return. God Bless us all.

Hate to hear that DJD and hope everything turns out okay for you all.

Your dad sounds like one tough son fo a gun and that can pull you through some pretty tough spots when needed.

I know a lot, not all, about how you feel and you betcha' there will be some prayers going up from here. Last July, Friday the 13th, my hubby went to the doctor for "slight" chest discomfort he had during the night before. Was sent to the Heart Center for a routine heart cath. They never got any further than entering the artery. The doctor pulled the camera back out and called the ambulance. While waiting for it to arrive, he came out and wrapped his arms around me and laid his head on top of mine. His words were, "_____ (my name), we have to pray NOW; your husband is so close to a massive heart attack I can't even help him here. I've called the ambulance and am sending his for emergency heart surgery." We just stood there in the waiting room and prayed for him. Thank God for a Christian doctor who cares enough to pray for his patients. Through divine guidance we had been sent to a group of heart specialists who are all Christians and who spend a lot of time in prayer for their patients.

I followed the ambulance to the hospital and they had to keep him in the ER for six hours, giving him blood thinners and trying to stabilize him enough to do surgery. I was numb with fear because he had worked the day before, walked into the doctors office and was suddenly facing the battle of his life. As they entered the operating room, the surgeon said, "_____, you do the praying and I'll do the surgery; with the help of God, we'll get it right." I did my part, they did their part, and God did what we couldn't.

Hubby exceeded all expectations and returned to work at his office within 6 weeks and is doing fine. He's taking off Thursday and we're spending a couple of days (and nights) fishing and playing around on the lake. Ironically, this time the dog won't be going; she died in my arms last Wed. morning of a heart attack.

Regardless of what your Dad has gone through in the past, don't use that as your measurement for what will happen this time. The God we pray to is a Big God and we can ask Him for big things like a miracle for your Dad. Look up, reach up, pray up, and hang on! Prayers going up from this corner.

Don, knee-time is coming up for you and your Dad...my Grandfather went through the Carotid surgery (successfully) at around 70, so I know it's touchy and unnerving. It sounds like your Dad is a tough old bird, so I'm sure he's ready to fight if need be, but let's pray that it's a quick and uncomplicated successful procedure.
