That was a great day for water temps being that cold and as clear as it was...just not my kinda fishing condition....I guess I'll wait until the spring thaw to try the creek again.....

Had a great day out there yesterday.
It didn't appear like it was going to be a good day. I arrived a little early. The creek had a light skim of ice covering the biggest part of it around the ramp and as far as I could see either way..
Bandit Man and RangerMac arrived shortlty there after. We unloaded and started fishing. I hooked up less than 10 minutes after starting. On the fly of course. Water temp was 36 degrees most of the day. After lunch the sun and wind had melted 90 percent of the ice. Water temp had climbed to 41. Fish were in bunches.
Our boat caught 35+fish. I'd say we had 7-8 keepers. Biggest may 2lbs. I caught all 13 of mine on the fly. Silver buddies and shaky heads caught the rest. Jig bite wasn;t there.
It was nice to get in the boat with these 2 knuckleheads. We had Dave show up about 1 o'clock. We fished until dusk..
Oh shad were nailing the silverbuddy....
Thanks fellas
Billy

Went out of Ike's late Fri. afternoon just for a couple of hours. No bite one chaser on a spinner bait. Temps 41 water very clear. I should have tried the fly but don't think it's that effective on this end for whatever reason. It was definately a cold run back down the creek, ice was completely across the the creek at one point just before you get to the little dock on the right.
I had planned to head out to Frymans but my better half didn't get back from the "black Friday" events in time for it to be worth my while.
I've got next weekend open for now weather permitting maybe I'll make then.

Hey redneck i got their at 11.oo,caught three in first 15 minutes on silver buddie, then finished the day catching 7 bass and thee crappies on fly a good day i'd say![]()
Thats about the same luck we had on wednesday.....Looks like we should have been throwing something besides the jigs and spinnerbaits ......But cold clear water never was my fishing bud.......after it gets below 45 or so it gets really slow for me....
Ditch them spinnerbaits and pitch that fly boys...it's money this time of year...rig one on a bobber, rig one deadline, and find the fish...
We hit it today and did pretty good. Water was clear and stayed about 35* all over the creek. It rained on us most of the day (had it all to ourselves) but we managed to boat around 15-17 bass, several were keepers. I also caught 5 crappie on the FnF, I love watching the float go under!Quite a few bass were caught on tubes as well. We missed alot of fish today so we stayed busy setting the hook.
I caught several of the bass on the FnF as I was starting my retreive back in for another cast. Not sure why? I guess they were just waiting for me to move the fly. It was a great even though it was cold and rainy.....
Hey Billy, were you catching any on the deadline trick, or were they all under the float?
How was the Fireline Crystal?
I don't think any came on the deadline. But like Don said some hits came as you started to reel back to the boat. Billy had the mojo working in the back of the boat for sure. He found a stretch of bank and wacked em for a bit.
Marvin,
I did get two on the deadline and the tube had to be basically sitting still with an occasional pull but it had to be very subtle. They were picking it up but it was a hard bite to detect.
