    Spinning Reel question

I hate to as a question that has probably been asked before but I need some suggestions for a spinning reel. What kinds work best for you for drop shot/shaky head fishing. I am going to upgrade a little and want a solid durable reel - yet smooth that can last all day long even all year long.

    Re: Spinning Reel question

I like the Quantum Kenitic spinning reels. They are the smoothest and most durable spinning reel I have ever owned. I have used them for everything from bluegill to saltwater stripers. I have also caught a 45lb King Salmon on them. I believe they are they best spinning reels out for your money hands down also they are around 60 bucks at sportsman warehouse the only place I know of to get them.

Shimano stradic 1000 or 2500 depending on rod size. Best overall reel. I have 4 of them and i love every one of them.

    Re: Spinning Reel question

Stradic is a fine reel but theres not much difference in feel from the Symetre in my opinion and you can buy 2 almost for the price.I have a few stradics but after buying a symetre thats all ill buy for now.But this is just and opinion.Love my Stradics and Symetres.

I love my Stradic. Spend the extra money and get the Mg stradic - it is one of the best reels I have owned.

    Re: Spinning Reel question

I prefer Shimano reels because of the no-fail bail spring and like any with 6+ ratio.

    Re: Spinning Reel question

I have a sahara now, it run me around $50-$60 it is a medium sized and had worked fine but after 2 years of heavy workload it is going down on me, so I want to pick up a couple reels to alternate between. I tried a mitchel because they used to be a great reel but I was severely disappointed and that reel is used only if my shimano breaks down or I throw a jerkbait.

    Re: Spinning Reel question

Shimano makes the best spinning reels but you get what you pay for with the top of the line Stella 600.00 it will outlast a dozen cheaper Shimanos . the next best is the Shimano Substain around 250.00 & again if you fish a lot buy the best you can afford & fish trouble free & money ahead in the long run. jmho

    Re: Spinning Reel question

Well without posting another post, has anyone tried the carrot stix spinning rod? I believe I will hone down the reel selection and look at the pfluegers and definately the shimano's because after some research I found the sahara I bought was one step down from the symetres, and it has been a good reel I just want to step up seeing as how this is my most used combo throughout the year
