Ryan did have a heck of a good day. I know of one of the best guides on the lake that had 11, another boat at the one stop said they had 12. I talked to another 8-10 boats and the best they had was 2 and several at the one stop that night only had a couple as well. All early and very few late in the day after the entire Southern Hemisphere moved north and we were in shorts, t shirts and suntan oil. I had 5 with one being a 4-12 my partner did not get a bite all day but he troopered thru it all day until dark trying his best. He did hook the biggest creature ever from my boat. All 5 of mine came before 8am so needless to say we were on POINT and then it happened. His bobber not only went down and he set the hook but the drag went SCREAMING up the bank away from him. He yells, Woody oh my gosh its a HOG, I am scrambling for the net as I see the 10 foot rod bent double and the drag is screaming then the bobber comes out of the water then it is a straight line to the top of the water from his rod tip to the waters edge but it is still moving down the bank, very strange, then I see the 4 foot tail that looks like a boat paddle and then the 40 pound BEAVER appears on the surface just slowly swimming down the bank. This Beaver has swam into his jig and hooked himself on the back, shoulder or somewhere but trust me the FNF rod with 6lb leader is doing nothing in turning him towards the boat. I am now scrambling for the camera to take video because I know nobody will believe this and out pops the jig. Rob gets it back in with a ball of beaver hair on the jig. He asked me what in the world would we have done if he got it to the boat and my answer was simple, I have braid cutters to cut the line before it even got close but if it did, I have a boat paddle and not afraid to do a little beatdown on "Bob the Beaver" if necessary. Pretty funny and I am still laughing as I type this thinking about it. By the way we did see a guy on a JET SKI today, yes a JET SKI, I had to do a double take and a triple take and still did not believe my eyes and had to get confirmtion from Rob that it was a JET SKI.

Thanks for the report Ryan. Hope to be headin down to the hollow next weekend and now I've got somewhere to start with the fly.

That beaver story is a classic elnut. I hooked a muscrat once at a farm pond and it put up a heck of a fight. Caught it on a crankbait

I was at Dale Friday and Saturday as well. We fished 16hrs in 2 days. Friday we landed 4 smallmouth and a redeye on the fly. Had several more "take downs" that didnt hook up and one popped out while trying to net. Saturday we caught 5 more. Fished the TN side, near Hendricks creek. I think the pressure kinda hurt the bite a bit, but you guys did ok, not sure? May have been the spots we fished??? I had a barometric pressure reader. It was off the scale on the high side, 31.??". I thought that hurt the bite. Ryan & Ellnut, I saw both you guys. Saw Ryan loading his boat, I talked to his buddies on the water while we waited for trailers to load. One of my buddies that was with me talked to you on Saturday Ellnut. We were in a 18' Stratos 282 with a red 08 ext cab chevy. I was going to speak to you all Ryan but didnt get a chance. We'll be back soon.

Somebody somewhere is ALWAYS catching fish on any lake at any time. First to admit that Dale has humbled me 6 of the 9 days on the water but that is all about to change because Elnut is changing the way he fishes Dale, approaches Dale and HE will catch fish every day from now on. Been too stubborn in what I have been doing because it has produced so many big fish but with the lowest water level in years plus the water is colder now than any December I have seen it has made me do a lot of sole searching. Everything that I have posted in the past is all going to be adjusted and I know it will work. Too bad that I am not a happy camper with "Information sharing" in the present moment so only those close few that know me will know what I am doing from starting Thursday going forward.
