    Thumbs up Thanks Woody

Woody, I wanted to personally thank you for all of your post regarding FNF fishing on Dale. I got the oppurtunity to fish on Dale yesterday for the first time, and man what a beautiful lake, I can see why you love it down there so much. Without you posting so much great information, I would of not had a clue on what to try or what to do down there. It takes a little while getting use to throwing that buggy whip, and watching the bobber, but after a while I got pretty good at it, we tried all the classic spots you mentioned in your article, and even a few that just looked good, we didnt end up catching any, but it was a high pressure day, bluebird skies, so I dont think it was a good day to try it, but had a blast anyway. I can see why you love it down there so much, and look forward to going back down and trying it again. The lake was packed, I have never seen a lake so crowded in the middle of the winter, but I guess a lot of people love it down there, and I can see why. Thanks again Woody for all your great information, and hopefully I can somehow repay you back someday. Bob

No repayment necessary just glad you enjoy the lake. Just wait until the bobber goes under and you are in a tussle with a 5+ pounder and you will never want to leave. Hope you have better luck next time but my bet is the next few days are going to be tough fishing for all. We will be down for 3 days tomorrow and I already know it will be tough

I could only imagine catching a 5lb smallie on the FNF, I'm sure I would be hooked for life, largest smallie to date 1lbs, so I can only imagine, but I will definetly keep trying. Good luck tommorrow, and hope you catch a bunch. Water temp were between 47 and 48 later in the day.

We will need a little luck the next couple of days but I got a little curveball that I am going to start throwing tomorrow as well. If that does not work then here comes the splitter and if that does not work the the knuckleball comes next. Elnut is changing the way he approaches Dale Hollow starting tomorrow.

Woody - Flexibility is the key to success...I know you love the fly but I think you're doing the right thing by changing things up a bit.

Bob - I'm glad you made it to Dale...I'm surprised to hear the lake was packed though...it's a pretty good sized lake. I guess a lot of people took off work for the holidays. Elwood says he's spoiled to catching quality smallmouth, and I guess I'm spoiled to fishing Cumberland and Dale in general, just for the beauty of both lakes more than anything else. I'm kind of narrow minded when it comes to the lakes I go to, it's either Dale or Cumberland...and maybe Green once in a great while.
