Does anyone fish CC during the winter,i know the creeks freeze up but theres gota be some fish to be caught somewere...anyone ever go?

ive fished it afew time this winter, but not had much luck. Did hear that someone cought a 9lbs LM bout 10 days ago but i didnt see it for myself!? (Not that a fisherman would tell a tale of strech a story) Was told by some locals that fishing was slow but when you got one it was a good one yet when the water gets 40 or below dont waist your time? Thats just what I was told but I cant sweart to it.
