no one ever talks about it here but me and a few other guys... are you all too scared to go on the ice? I'll admit that it can be a little spooky at first but when you start pullin out fat 'gills like I did today it makes it all worth while. I can't wait to go in the morning.. I am not one to sit here and wait for spring when I can be fishing... I fish every month cold, rain, ice or heat. Life to is to short to sit here. GO FISHIN' MAN!!

lake hart near mooresville 4" of ice caught them all on yellow/orange teardrop tipped with beemoths
I live in Mooresville, drove back from IU today just to go ice fishing tomorrow!!! I am so excited
just be careful and don't go alone, the guy that fell through summit lake survived... but the next guy might not
I use to when I lived in Indiana. We use to fish JC Murphy, Fletcher, and Manitou lakes mostly. I fished Atterbury of couple of times, but preferred the othe lakes. JC Murphy had huge bluegills back in the 80's, don't know about now. It was the place to start the season as most of the water is only 4 or 5 ft deep. If you fell in, it was just a bad day. I would have thought there would be more than 4" of ice up there by now given the cold weather you've have. We used real flimsy ice rods with 2 or 3 lb test, a small ice jig, beemoth and no bobber. Once we went to no bobber, the catch rate went way up. You'd just feel a little tick. No better eating fish than gills from the ice. Good luck.
Was planning on going yesterday but my friend stood on his dock and drilled a hole and there was only 2 inches of ice.
I fished today for 2 hours in Mooresville 20 minutes southwest of Indy. Ice was only 3 1/4"- 3 1/2" in my first spot which I felt uncomfortable about. Fished for 2 hours and caught absolutely nothing. Went and drilled holes in two more places, ice was only 2 1/2" so I got the hell off the pond. LOL just not worth it for me when the ice is under 4".
So be safe out there guys....I think the ice needs at least a few more days.
4get ice fishing. No reason to be out in the cold. I will wait til it gets warm again. Besides, there's not really any ice around. My creek was frozen, but nothing else.
again I fished all day on 4-5 inches of ice near morgantown today caught about 20 nice 'gills... excellent day
Fished in Mooresville myself today. Brought a 5 gal bucket of nice gills home! Ice was 3.5".............clear ice. Hope it hangs around for awhile. All in all a really fun day.
They just drained JC Murphy a couple years ago it's starting to come back. The gills are starting to be 8-9 inches.Yes I remember those gills back in the 80's that was very fun.I use to when I lived in Indiana.
