    Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx

Has anybody ever used or heard of whether this unit is worth taking on the water? For Christmas I recently received this unit for hunting purposes but I have been told that the marine features are actually really nice.. I purchased the TOPO 2008 Maps online and have put everything on MAPSOURCE but was wanting to know if there is anything else that I should have to improve its capabilities? Any help or input of just the features or dos/donts of this unit would be greatly appreciated. I am a college student that fishes as a non boater and would like to start marking waypoints and routes on some of the lakes that we fish at with UofL.

I did not say I am a pro and I clarified that I am a non boater... When you are given something you usually don't complain and say the pros don't use it? If I had a boat I would not use a garmin hand held gps I am sure I was asking if anybody knew much about it and its features on the water that I could get out of it being a NON boater... But thanks anyways...

I have used an older garmin with the maps from garmin. garmin makes a great GPS, thier graphs stink, but that is irrevelant to this disscussion. It will work well, but, be careful, some guys will get pissed if they find out you are GPSing thier spots.

Yea I have a couple guys that I work with at Bass Pro shop that are allowing me to ride along and get a few tips but when I am with the club I will always ask if they don't mind. I just purchased the Inland CD and a couple SD cards so hopefully it is worth it.. Thanks for the help..
