You guy's and gal's noticed or am I not seeing correctly , that the biggest portion of these guy's , the biggest names in bass fishing , are fishing in PONDS on most of the shows on TV these days ! Interested on what the other members of this board opinion's are ?
Other than Bill Dance, I haven't noticed that. Who exactly are you talking about?
I like Bill Dance regardless of whether he fishes in a pond or not. But when Bill fishes that same pond over and over, in my opinion he keeps the show interesting because he's always demonstrating some new tackle or whatever. Hank Parker is ok, I used to like his show a lot better back in the "old days"...Bass Pro's and In-Fisherman also get my vote.
shaw was fishin a strip mine at a golf course in indiana and the golf course called them with a invite. i beat we wouldnt get permision to fish it if we went and ask. and like we all know the biger fish live in small lakes and ponds and most are privit. the only way normal people to fish these lakes is to know the people or wait till knight and sneak in. and yes i have snuck in a few ponds and lakes in my younger days.![]()

Yeah Chuck, but the question is, would you turn down an invite to fish one of those lakes? LOL!
Some of these guys fish in ponds because it makes for a better show.I know id rather see 25 fish caught than 5 fish caught...people wanna see fish caught and thats all it boils down too
hell no, but it would be nice to see them make all water public so everyone can enjoy the same kind of fishin. i would love to fish maple herst golfe course ponds i have seen some monster bass in them.
This is why I think The Bass Pros is the best show on tv for informational purposes. Last week Stacy King is fishing high water on a lake in post spawn, guessing it was filmed last spring with all the rain we had and this week Timmy Horton is on Ky Lake whacking them on the ledges with the Citrus Fat Free Shad, which was probably filmed around the first of May when they were down there and he finished second to KVD doing the same thing. Overall, I think this show is head and shoulders or gils and fins above all the rest for information. No private lakes or ponds filmed on this show.
That's is right , that's what makes it 1 of the best in my opinion . There is a show on this week , not sure of the name , that show's VanDam throwing a spinnerbait and it looks as if he's in a pond ,a green slime allover the top of the water . Also Charlie Ingram's show this week looked to be pond fishing .
Ole Billy Westmorland used to shoot a lot of his shows in the phospate pits of central florida, but then I also remember him doing a fishing show on Taylorsville lake and catching lot of fish. I did a show with Billy in 1988 on Lake Erie with a guide and Billy outfished the guide who was using live bait while Billy throwing silver buddies. Billy was a cool dude and I miss him still.
I sure hope you guys are not talking about me fishing that same hole called Cedar creek over and over lol lol--GL to us all
ps; you got to love them green carpright Elwood
Anybody can catch fish in a private lake or these retention ponds that bill dance uses with his hand controlled trolling motor! That's no fun i want to see these guys get on a real body of water and teach me something, that's what a fishing show should be, and some are don't get me wrong. But dissapointing in my opinion
