The best to cover my boat from the weather?

    Hey men,
Yeah I'm one of the guys that have to store my boat outside. I was just wondering the best way to cover my boat to get the water to run off the sides of the boat. I have used the plastic poles that fall over, I have used just about anything you can think of to decease the amount of puddles of water. If someone has any ideas it would be appreciated.

Not sure where your from but Holmes Bend Marina on Green River Res has storage units 12 x 30 with electric for $45/month. I leave the boat there from 1 November until 1 March. It's pretty good having it out of the weather for a pretty cheap price.

My older boat which was a 1989 stratos had to stay outside during a bad winter. When the original cover came apart I used a blue plastic cover that you buy at walmart. I put in my sit down seats (folded down) with the post, run a nylon rope from front to back. At the rear I would loop the end of the rope and have a rope running from one rear tie down thru the end of the rope then to the other tie down. After that I would cover the boat with the plastic tarp using rubber tie down straps to hold it snug. Make sure you put some moth balls in metal pie pans inside the boat to keep out varmits, especially CATS, because they STINK up the carpet in a boat. I am speaking from experience.

I like to use road cones on the front and back deck. It works for me but I also have a dual consel.

When you close an above ground pool for the season you are supposed to use a blow up pillow in the center to keep the water from pooling in the center. You should be able to do the same, these pillows are pretty large and you could air it up to the size you need to make the top bubble up in the center and all your water should roll off. You may need more than one but it would stay under your cover so it can't fall off or over or anything like that. I have never done this before but it should work.

My boat is outside for the first time ever. I was always able to keep it garage kept until we sold out, now my new garage is too small. Anyway, here is my idea. I have the custome made cover, but it sags in one area. So I picked up one of those big plastic "kids" balls that are sold for a very low price. I then placed it under my cover where the sag was, adjusted my straps, and now the water always runs off.

    Good luck.
