What's a good S.In. small state lake for Crappie

I'd like to find a good state lake for some spring crappie action in southern Indiana. I'm using a kayak so motor restrictions are OK with me. I'm wanting to fish any of the big waters.

I thought about Brush creek but didn't know how its crappie numbers were.

Ferdinand State Forest, Indian and Celina lakes in HNF. Spring Valley F&G area. Back waters of the Ohio in several places. That should be enough to get you started.

Patoka if you put in at South Lick Fork ramp. Slow speed limits will keep the wakes down.

bluegrass has some great monster crappie in it perfect for your kayak.also have you ever fished in the stripper pits in warrick county{lynnville area} pits are everywhere and i promise you will catch alot of crappie.

One more place is Snaky Point in the Patoka National Refuge near Oakland City. Great kayak water.

snaky point is great for small boats, and theres so much water thats impossible to get to so fish there dont get that much pressure. has anyone ever looked at snaky point from google earth? i figured it just had alot of snakes til i checked it out, really neat looking point.

same here, id hit the peabody strip pits for crappie if your gona be in warrick.

where those pits located? yankeetown?

The biggest group of them are south a lynnville, north of chandler and boonville, and east of elberfeld. Pretty much when you drive thru bluegrass on new harmony road you keep going past pigeon creek and take a left on wasson road or any other road that follows it and keep goin til you start seein pits. some of the land closer to chandler is owned by alcoa i think and they have that land posted. Theres tons of pits in that area tho so if its not posted its probably peabody and they wont kick you out.

Brush Creek has a lot of crappie but 75-80% of them are to small to even clean.
