    Second cast of the year!

Had a good day on Ky lake yesterday. Boated a ton of bass (mostly dinks). The second cast of the day I pulled in a 4 or 5 pound smallie. Didn't have scales, but I laid it on the board and it was almost 20 inches, probably over 22 if I squeezed the tail together. It looked like it had swallowed a football. Caugh another, smaller 17 inch smallie on the next cast - then began the dink fest which continued the next 5 hours - a few more keepers in the mix but nothing worth mentioning.

The big small mouth, and the bulk of the others came on a megabass jerkbait in pro-blue, and a few on a jig and crankbait.

Probably the best catch of the day was a white bass that was an easy 3 lbs. It was 15 inches and fat. The biggest white I have caught.

Also the lake is LOW now. I must have drfted maybe a foot outside of the bouys and hit a rockpile, although when sitting there on the rocks it looked like I was lined up directly in between two sets of bouy markers - Even the GPS had me dead on the lane. Luckily I knew where I was, and was aware of the quick rises around that area - even inside the bouys - so I was just over an idle, but it still took a chip or two out of the skeg - no lower unit damage. Just a reminder to use your head out there, especially when out of the main lake channels.

Col did your big bite come before or after the wind layed down? We were catching them like fire till the wind slacked - IT WAS AWESOME! then came little fishville until 1pm I set the hook an a beautiful 6lb 8oz beautiful LM, and caught it on my new carrot stix rod and I'm here to tell you the feeling of power you have is unbelievable I could have flipped it into the boat, I was hoping to put it to the test and it came through - thanks for the tip - i'm going to have to get one for casting rods now.

SSSHHHH with that pro blue color megabass. Great bait, a little on the high side but will put fish in the boat. That Tennessee shad color is another good one. Congrats on the great day.
