I got back from Ky Lake this past Friday and all I can say wow!! This was by far my best fishing ever. The first two days were a little slow do to the 30 mph south winds but things turned around on Monday. I went on this trip with 18 other guys and some of them have been fishing there longer then I've been alive. Monday, when the wind shifted and came out of the east a lot of the guys were saying "East is Least". I guess referring to the bite. My partner and I quickly found out this was not true. We caught between 40 and 45 bass that day. We had 15 keepers with our 12 weighing in at 39 lbs. Our biggest 5 would have weighed 24 pounds. Tuesday was a little slower with the wind up again but we still managed 7 keeper with one going 7lbs 5oz. Wednsday (tournament day) we were greeted with a brief period of ice and freezing temps but we managed to catch a limit of 12 keepers in the 1st hour and half of the tourny. I caught our biggest, and personal best, one going 6lbs 9oz. The rest were just keepers. We had 28lbs in 10 fish and lost by 5 pounds. Had 2 fish come in short of the line. Still don't know how that happened.
What was most satisfiying is that the traditional bait or style of fishing for this group is crankin, crankin and crankin. We caught almost every fish on a 5/16oz jig with a baby brush hog trailer. Just wanted to share a little with how my week went. Sad thing is, its all down hill from here with taylorsville being 20 minutes away.
