It is open. Crappie are being caught up in the creeks on jigs and minnows.

From what I've heard, up to now .... Crappie at GRL are on fire, but running on the small size ... for the most part. I don't know if this means the big ones have already come and gone (though I doubt it) ... or if the lake is just full of sublegal sized fish. I never fished the Holmes Bend area, all that much ... and when I did fish GRL, I fished between the dam & Robinson Creek area. When I got into Crappie spawning in that area, it was usually mid April or thereabouts.
This rain & cold spell may run them back out deeper, but if they're trying to nest ... they won't go far. Post a report, if you go ... always interested in hearing about what the Crappie are doing around the state.

If you like to bass fish at all GRL has been on fire. Reports of 22-23 lb + stringers coming out of there last weekend and early this week.

I went down to Green on the 22nd and I probably caught 40 or more fish. I only had 9 keepers. All the rest were little bitty crappie from about 6 to 8 inches. I caught everything around goat island on the rock walls where the river channel swings against it. I did not fish in any creeks. I caught them spider riggin on minnows fishing about 10 to 12 feet deep. Hope that helps

I do not know about the 22-23 lb but did see a 21+ with a 20+ second saturday and a 21.70 sunday. They are on fire went yesterday and best five would have weighed in at 18 lb.
