Well maybe no fish at the Dale Sat. and I didn't want to run around logs and tree in muddy water this afternoon at Barren so went Dryland fishing.
They were biting found a school of about 40 in 20 min. in a place about the size of a room. Think they have tourments for these?
We fished Dale all day Friday and Saturday and it was tough. Caught one 2.5lbs Friday and one 4lb 15oz on Saturday. Better than being skunked but you really had to work for it!
What's it going to take for the fishing to improve at Dale? I'm sure this cold front won't help much. I'm headed that way Wednesday night. We're fishing Thursday - Saturday afternoon. I know Dale Hollow can be touch but come on. Working that hard for one fish a day? That'll humble a man in a hurry. I sure hope we can catch a few.
The good news is Thursday - Saturday is suppose to be in the 60's with S & SW winds. I'll report back this weekend.
Just go slow....I'd even try bobbers. Seen two 5's over the weekend caught on bobbers and big creek minnows.
I fished with livebait most everyday last week, and each day my fishing imporved. Sunday morning I finished early with my best morning by far. I stayed on the main lake flat areas near the lodge. All my fish were in less than 15 ft. of water. Sunday I was on a better classs of fish none measured but all were near the mark ........dont know if this link will let u see the pics or not.

I saw a lot of fish being caught in the same area I was in, this front today will set us back a little
Thanks for the pics., now I know what they look like anyway.
Rickhise if you don't mind me asking, I just don't know how to fish for these outfits in the big waters, how were you fishing those shinners? Or where they shinners? Sat. was the first time I had used shinners, we used Fintails, we would get form the creeks ,years ago. But we didn't get a change to Dip any and nowday I'll about half too layze.
You know you will have no problem catching fish. From some of the post I've read you will wack'em.What's it going to take for the fishing to improve at Dale? I'm sure this cold front won't help much. I use shad that I catch under a light off the dock, then store the bait to season for a few days,Rickhise if you don't mind me asking, I just don't know how to fish for these outfits in the big waters, how were you fishing those shinners? Or where they sh inners? Sat. was the first time I had used sh inners, we used Fintails, we would get form the creeks ,years ago. Using a medium action spinning rod with a 3/0 wire hook, (because it will straightened if u hang it) about 18 inches above that a regular split shot on a open bail spinning reel. Line size is 8-10 will work.....that's another issue
You can drift it or tie up right now tying up on a staging bank is the easy est by far,
(now that's about 15 minutes or less you should get results)......You will find shad are natural and they will out produce sh inners, that should start a fight. Sh inners do produce and are much hearty-er......Your hook choice is preference, with a 3/0 Aberdeen 1214 eagle claw wire hook, just a typical crappie hook .........others like circle hooks that will reduce deep hook sets but those that know what there doing never let a hook get to the gullet, (thats another arugument) ............its so simple, IM on the water during the week most every day now if i can help just hollar (state dock)
when you tying up your allowed 3 rods out! Remember open bails in rod holders thats a must lol
