Well everyone is going to say what purpose are you using it for, and what type of price range do you hope to stay in...

The BPS brand rods are good rods for the money, but there isn't a long term, reliable warranty on most models. I would suggest looking at Shimano, G-loomis, or St. Croix.

Gor a general purpose spinning rod I would look into 6'3"-6'10" Medium light- Medium power. Depending on what baits you plan on fishing and what type of waters you"ll be fishing.

You can get a Shimano Compre from BPS, for around $100 that would give you a lifetime, over the counter warranty. Also the St. Croix MoJo rods are good, in the same price range, not sure about that warranty though.

I have a seven foot medium H and H rod that is pretty sharp. there upper end models are made in the USA. I use it for pulling cranks for crappie.

I have a 7'2" MH Drop Shot rod by E21 (AKA Carrot Stix) that I wouldn't be afraid to use on just about anything

If you are going to get a higher end rod - I would look for one with the best warrantee. Shimano cumara and Carrot Stix have the lifetime over the counter - just trade it out if you break it. Loomis, you will have to pay a fee - but for their upper end models, it is well worth it.

Personally I like all three of those brands, and wouldn't hesitate buying any of the three.

I like a medium action for my spinning set-ups - I only use them for light weight or finesse stuff here.

Loomis tend to be somewhat stiff of an action compared to most, and Carrot Stix and Shimano's (especially cumara) seem to be a little more light than the weight listed.

I will never buy another rod under 7 feet. I like the 7 foot for all around use. You can throw lighter, smaller baits better, and they seem to have a little more feel, as well as little better action in the tip when playing a fish. The only rods I have shorter than 7 is for spinner baits, top-water walkers, and for jerkbaits - and I don't use spinning gear on those.

It would be a shaky head rod mainly maybe dropshot if I ever try it. I didn't know carrots were lifetime warranty. I'll look at them. thanks for all the input
