    Crankbaits and rust?

Yea! I messed up and put some boxes away with water in them. I will be replacing the hooks and rings but have not figured out the best way to clean the rust stains from the bodies, any ideas?

That's tough deal Dave. sometimes it just doesn't come off, try Fantastic or a Magic Eraser.

Don't you hate that! After a tournament or a trip, when I get home I take out my crankbait box and leave the box open to let the water evaporate.
I would try a degreaser first like some Dawn and water. If that doesn't work, I would take mhall's advice -- Fantastic and/or a Magic Eraser. Tough to beat both of those cleaners.......

You may try some rubbing alcohol,,I paint and repaint old baits,,,alcohol will remove rust from the bills and I have had some luck with it on painted bodies as well,,,It won't harm your paint.

Dave, just show them to a few more big linesiders. They'll remove the rust and some of the paint for you saving you the trouble of cleaning them.

A GOOD tip I heard about, maybe even on here is to use the silica packs in your boxes. Silica packs are the little packs you get in big bags of beef jerky and sometimes electronics. At my work we get shipments from over seas and they have 1/4lb silica bags that I keep in each comartment of my boat. They won't get rid of the rust but sure will prevent it. Since I've been doing this...no rust.

To keep my self from forgetting to lay out wet tackle box's when I'm fishing in the rain. I add those little gadgets that come in pill bottles or other packaged items. The things that are inserted into the package to help absorb moisture. They work great, especially in my small mini tackle box's I take to the creeks with me. Cause lord knows I've taken a sudden tumble in the creek from slipping on a slimy rock.

They are now useless, just send them to me and I will dispose of them properly.LOL Other than looking bad they will work. I pick up alot over the winter and all I ever do is change out hardware. If you have a place you don't want to throw your pretty cranks throw one of these instead.
