If anyone has a report on Barren could you please post it. Thanks
Fished Barren last Friday and Saturday. I have weekend place on Skaggs. Water temp was upper 50s morning to about 62 in afternoon. This was in Beaver Creek and
Skaggs. Clearer water in the main lake around Beaver Creek boat ramp. Pretty murky back in the creeks. Water was about 555.5 and summer pool is 552. I caught several buck bass on brush hogs and a 4.5 lb on an Xrap jerk bait(silver) on a 12 ft ledge w/ large rocks and fairly clear water. Caught 6 or so other small bass on the Xrap. I will be there again this Friday through Sunday. If you want an update let me know! I dont have a computer at the lake yet but will get back with you early next week. Fish On! Ed
I know there is a lot of fish caught on the old jerk bait but I just can't do any good with it. How do you fish it and what kind of water, if you don't mind me asking.
I am heading up tommorrow. Will be Fishing Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Gillman... I really just started using a jerkbait this year. I was at KY Lake with 9 other guys that have been going the same week for years. Many 5's a few 6's and 2 over 7 were caught that weekend and about half of those on the jerkbait. Thus I am a believer! Others may want to give you more info but this is what I have.. use a med action rod, which helps the action. Chuck your jerk out.. reel down a few times until you feel it is at its max depth.. with the rod tip down. "slap the slack" line two or three times. Sometimes you will snap your wrist, then reel.. snap again in quick sessions... After a few snaps.(heres the most important part) PAUSE! snap snap snap...PAUSE! snap snap ..Pause. Experiment with the pause time.. KVD recommends that the visibilty to be at least 2 feet before he uses the jerk bait. The fun part is after a pause when you start to snap the line .....and it does not move!!!... time to hang on! Fish on! Ed
Thanks ED, The visibility part is the part were I thank I'll been missing it and pause time. I guess i just need to slow down and get the bait and fish time.

Gave the nighttime hybrid thing a try with only one 5 lber to show for it. Shad working the banks well, but the fish not in them.. Nighttime water temps ranged from 62-65 depending on where you were. Day time temps about 4 degrees higher.
Do you fish for the hybrids often, fishincreek? We used to make the long drive to Barren 5 or 6 times each Spring, but after 3 or 4 GREAT years, we had a couple of trips with zero fish and quit going. Would love to go again, but we refuse to go until we know that someone is catching them at night on the surface.
My fishing partner and I went down there today. We put in the water just after 7:00. Both of us had our boats and went different directions. He took his boat up North into Green Creek and Beaver Creek. He said he culling by 9 am and the smallest was just over 3.5 lbs. I headed over to Skaggs Creek and Coon Creek. Although I did not start culling until near noon time, the smallest I had was just over 4lbs. The shad were jumpin everywhere If I could of stayed I would have been there all night. Hope it helps and good luck
Just updated Jessie's report
