Are you sure it is a 12V motor? I would think that for 55lbs. of thrust you would need 2 batteries, 24volts.

I replaced the old motorguide that came with the tracker in '94 with Bass Pro's new Prowler. The old motor was a 12v 30lb thrust bow mount, the new prowler is 12v 55lb thrust bow mount. I'm thinking I should have more power for my tournament 18 but it actually has less!!!!!! Did I do something wrong installing this? Does my battery have less power than it did a month ago? Or is this a piece of junk that I should try and return?
Thanx,
Shaner

Make SURE your wires can handle the extra load.I replaced the old motorguide that came with the tracker in '94 with Bass Pro's new Prowler. You need to make sure the wires are not heating up......that could be the problem.

I have a 55# Minn Kota at 12volt. They can just draw down a Battery quicker than a 24V system.
Does trolling motor paper work show current draw? If not call tech support and get that info or if you have an Amp meter read it that way.The old one might draw less then the new one? Insure the connections are clean as well.
In the end it can only be the battery (is it a deep cycle?), wire size or trolling motor. Maybe a little of each.....

I have heard plenty of bad reviews and testimonials on the Bass Pro Prowler TM's. Most say they are under powered. Most people that I have heard from said that the deal was just too good to be true and now they are finding that indeed it was too good to be true because the Prowlers are weak.
here are some links to threads discussing them.

It was actually the same guy psoting but the responses are different. The site went down after he posted it the first time.
Hope this helps.
I bought one too during the sale, have same problem.
