Talked to a buddy who fished for a while on Saturday night. He said they didn't do any good. Shad never came up. I'm not sure how late they fished. Fished in Beaver. For what it's worth.

Sounds real familiar, lol. This has been a bad spring so far for consistency. I've heard some real good reports sporatically, but way more sorry reports than good ones. If this weather will ver straighten out get warm and stay warm it may really heat up, time will tell. Couple of cold nights again down there this past week.

We fished Thursday night the 23rd and had no hits. Heard no blowups and fished cranks, jigs, and topwater. A little early I think but usually they can be caught on jigs or cranks before the top bite starts. Fished Caney mostly and tried flats and bluffs.

Put in at the dam Sunday nite. Water temp at ramp was 64( saw as low as 59). Fished a couple of big coves off main lake. Basically nothing. Shad finally up(but not many) around 1. Never heard the first striper till 2 and that was on a jointed Redfin. 33 1/2 inches and FAT. Also nabbed a 21 inch walleye on same bait. Shad vanished around 3:30. Only heard one other striper.

Did you try little macs or slivers? I know that sometimes they'll hit good on those if they're not hitting the surface yet. Went to Laurel last night and the shad were up really good. Heard several walleye on the surface and caught one on a surface bait. The problem right now is that the water's so high it's hard to keep those plugs out of the dang trees.

Went Thursday night and fished mid lake. Threw Slivers, Bombers, Gizz4, Redfin, and Bass n Shad. All we caught was one short stripe. Shad never did come up. Heard very little surface activity. Talked to one other boat about 4 am who had only caught 2 short stripes.

    Re: stripers

I went down Thursday night and fished to Saturday morning. I got on the lake late Thursday, around midnight, and it was very quit. I tried a couple different spots and there was no shad to be found.

Friday night everyone and their brother seemed to be out fishing. It was so bad there was almost no place to get in and fish without making someone mad. I marked stripers moving into the mouth of the creek about 8:30pm and shad started popping about the same. The shad were up but sparse. The stripers were not busting the surface at all. I started out with top water and had them smacking at it like crazy but they weren't interested enough to grab it. I switched to a sliver and caught fish.

I caught three, one was short. They came at 8:30pm trolling shiners on planer boards, 10:30pm on a sliver, 4:30am on a sliver.

The shad were up from 8:30pm to about 11pm, after that they were very sparse but continued all night.

    To all,

Great set of notes guys. I'll be going soon, and promise to return the favor. Appreciate the detailed info, and will do the same.

Hey......has anyone seen my boat keys? Last I saw them the wife said she was going to shine them up for me. That was 3 days ago.
