I like a 7 foot rod for almost everything - but I am 6'4". For fishing smaller plastics and finesse type jigs, a sensitive rod is a must. When you get into more sensitive type rods, you get into more money. But a worm/jig set up is where I would definitely drop a few extra bucks. Shimano Cumara's or Carrot stix are the most sensitive I have found (under $200) - However, a GLX loomis is nice if you have the extra cash.
I will add that most of the "sensitive" rods made for bottom bouncing, are a little lighter than listed. A medium/heavy Cumara or Carrot stick is about the same as your typical Medium action.
