6' 6" or 7' rod for plastics ? and brand?

All my casting rods are MH power and I want to get a medium power casting rod for fishing lighter plastic presentations and light jigs, from your experiences will a 6'6" or a 7' work best for this and in fast or x-fast action ? also what brand/model of rod is the best for this ? Thanks..........

I like the 6'6. Easier to cast(esp at night) with 1 hand. Most of the difference in the length of the 2 rods is actually in the butt of the rod anyway. I have much more control with the shorter rod(both casting and storing the thing in the rod locker.)

I like a 7 foot rod for almost everything - but I am 6'4". For fishing smaller plastics and finesse type jigs, a sensitive rod is a must. When you get into more sensitive type rods, you get into more money. But a worm/jig set up is where I would definitely drop a few extra bucks. Shimano Cumara's or Carrot stix are the most sensitive I have found (under $200) - However, a GLX loomis is nice if you have the extra cash.

I will add that most of the "sensitive" rods made for bottom bouncing, are a little lighter than listed. A medium/heavy Cumara or Carrot stick is about the same as your typical Medium action.

I'm with you on the 7ft rods. A nice fast tip with a 3 power Loomis IMX or GLX is my perfect rod.

I would go with a 6'9'' Kistler helium ltx MH... or a 6'9" Kistler Argon worm series Mh.... Kistler in my opinion Is one of the BEST rods on the market today. Love them. There argon series rods are 200 and the helium ltx is 359.00 Lifetime warranty I have 3 myself and just about to convert over to all Kistlers when i get a lil extra money.

Most sensitive rod I have ever put in my hands, and I have owned plenty of GLoomis rods -- among others. You need the extra fast action for a good hookset, considering the medium power is going to give a lot less than the medium-heavy. Should be the perfect setup for you.

I picked up that extra fast Cumara you have and it felt to stiff to me. So I tried the fast action and the tip felt more like the 3 power Loomis that I like. I didn't buy either.....yet.
