Need Advice for Cumberland this Weekend

Just wanted to get some input from those of you who have been on the lake lately. I was planning to come down and fish for striper sat. night, will put in at Jamestown. I know the lake is up and the shad have been sporadic lately. Would i be wasting my time this weekend? I live 2 1/2 hours away.

Any advice would be greatly apprectiated

I can tell you based on last weekend that just because you don't hear any shad on the surface doesn't mean the stripes won't hit surface lure. We did really well on the main lake and never heard a single swirl of shad on the surface. However, we did mark gobs of them on our graph.

Check before you go the lake is still rising and they are saying possibly 1 to 3 more inches of rain down there by midday Saturday. Debris is horrible right now, at night would be down right dangerous. Check the weather radar out right now, the Front from Hell is heading right towards the lake. If you go I would be really really careful.....

Fished all night last night near jamestown lots of shad activity but not on the banks..........very few blowups as far as stripers go..We were targeting Walleye but caught a couple small stripes...........lots of debris ..........water still clear............did I already say lots of debris...........

Thanks guys for all the info. Put in at jamestown sat. night, fished main lake, only caught one walleye about 12:30. Very little shad activity, heard no striper blowups, birght full moon, water temp about 63 deg.

Just curious...what do you different to target walleye's instead of stripers...different locations, smaller lures????
