I cant believe nobody has told me about these things before. I picked up a few my last time at BPS and for the guys that tend to cram too many rods in a rod locker, they sure save some frustration. No more rods getting tangled.

When you get tired of ripping hooks out of them, try some Stik Jackets. They are made of braided material and hooks come out very easily. They also work like Chinese hancuffs. The weight of the rod and reel cause them to tighten and cinch up. You can hang them by them rod tip end and they tighten up so you can hang them on the wall. There is a metal eyelet put in the end of them to hang. They are also about the same price, and are much more superior in quality.

I totally agree with Shimano4Life about the Stik Jackets. I purchased a Loomis GL3 rod at Backwaters a few moths back and they gave me a Stik Jacket with the purchase. Very cool product for sure.

Shimano4Life hit it dead. I bought StickJackets for all of my rods a month or so back. When you have your rods plus your Dads other dozen in the rod box it makes it so much easier to remove them, plus it helps protect tips and guides in the rod tubes. Worth every penny.

Man......those look REALLY neat.......do they come off the rods pretty easily........looks like you might have to fight them a little.

Not at all. They are very simple and convenient. No fight at all to them - they slide right off and you dont have to mess with the elastic band, like on some other rod socks/sleeves. I had many bad experiences with getting hooks stuck in the elastic on some Bass Pro rod socks. Some of them I had to either cut the hook in half or cut the elastic completely off, rendering them useless.

The stick jackets have been one of my best purchases last year. I have an open rod box (no tubes), and I can lay 10 - 15 rods in there now with the stick jackets on, and they never tangle. You can't pull them off from the tip - you can actually hang them up by the ring on the tip, and the pressure keeps the rod in there. You just grab the bottom (closest to the reel) and they slide right off with one hand. I usually just pull the rod out of the box with one hand, and hold onto the bottom with the other, and they never leave my rod box - they go on just as easy. I get hooks in them on occasion, and all you have to do is push the ends together (to fatten it - or expand the strands, and the hook falls out).

I have been using the rod socks for about 2-3 years and I also use the lure wraps so if you have a crankbait on you can use the lure wrap around it or anything that has hooks and then you don't have to worry about any hooks getting into the rod sock. I really like them , no more tangled mess.

Stik Jackets? Havent heard of them till now. Hooks sticking in the elastic on the rod socks can be a problem. I just assumed they were the only thing like that on the market.
