Fished Sunday with a good friend of mine. Fishing was awesome. Started the day on Beaver at 5;30 am. Fished till 12 noon and had 3 keepers, 15-1/4 inch, 16 inch and a 20 inch 4.8pounder. The 4.8 pounder was caught by my buddy and I bet she weighed 6 pounds during spawn. She was skinny but healthy. We caught about 40 bass and had a blast. Shallow shade, paca craw and shakey head worms, and also a few on the jerk bait.
Then I went to the Ky river. Put in at ramp on Highway 68 between harrodsburg and wilmore. When I got there, there was a truck stuck on the ramp burning his tires trying everything he could to get up the ramp. I unhooked my boat, backed down the hill and pulled his truck with boat and trailer in tow up the hill so I could get on with fishing. (I have a Dodge and He had a Ford( FORD= Found On Ramp Dying)
When I finally got launched I started fishing the slack water behind the gravel shoals. I caught 4 large mouth and 2 hybrids(or white bass- I cant tell the difference) Caught the fish on a spinnerbait. Total sack would have weighed 8-9 pounds. Big fish was about 3-1/2 pounds. Also had a smallmouth bubba that wasn't 6 inches long. Aggressive little dude! Fished from 2-5pm. Then had to go. Steak dinner was calling my name!
Sounds great! Beaver was good to us as well on Saturday but we never threw paca craws or shakey heads. All of our were on top water and in the shade as the day progressed.
Thats pretty good on the river...we usually get a few small ones but never any size.
