Well I finally got to go fishing this year. Not a bad day, we brought home about 15 nice fish for me to clean. We started off catching like 8 really nice 12 to 14 inch white bass on shad raps, as the whites were hitting top water action. Nuttin funner than a white smashing into your lure, they are mean fighters for sure....
We moved around the lake and the bass action was almost non existent, but we were catching some bluegill and war mouths regularly. My oldest son was using a inline spinner called an Agilla Spinner. No feather, just a bare treble hook and a small silver blade.
We moved on around the lake and my youngest son picks up a crappie rig with a Home made white feather jig on the line I made myself....2nd cast he catches about a 10" bluegill...Wat do we have something goin on here..Water temp at T-Ville was anywhere from 77.3 to 79.5, water stained and tinted green. So I switch to fishing my ultra light crappie rig as well, but I use a black/chart crappie tube bait about an inch long. The hits start and I miss fish, I mean mean hits.... But I am not one to give up...I finally catch this mean fish and it's an 11" fatty bluegill that I can barely put my hand around from back to belly. Anyway the young son who is using the white feather jig continues his assault, catching some here and there. My oldest son using the Agilla inline spinner is catching fish from 3" to 13". I on the other hand am catching nice quality bluegills on this tube bait. Never b 4 in my fishing years had I experienced the action of actually catching bluegills fish on this type of lure...Had a blast and the sound of that ultra light rods drag, being pulled by the big bluegill, was fun for sure.
By the way we were fishing about 3' down almost right on the bank.
Hope anyone who goes to Taylorsville has as much fun as the 3 of of had being out together on the water.
Nice report Clyde, I'm glad you got out with your boys and had fun.
The gills are spawing aren't they? I never saw one active bed at Beaver. Catching panfish that size us fun for sure...reminds me of farm pond fishin. Good job!
Glad to hear you and your sons had a good time Clyde.
Love fighting those on UL gear - they zig-zag every which way.
Good for you to get out.
I am glad you and the boys got out, The Friday nighters started up last week so I will be giving you a call here anytime to join me for some fishing.
Eddie
