Its possible the wire maybe cable tied somewhere. I would trying to feed a fish tape through and see if that would go.

I'm trying to install my new fishfinder last nigh, and I ran into a snag. I tied a small rope to the end of my old transducer wire, that way when I pulled the old wire out, I could use the rope to pull the new wire back through.
The wire is coming from the back of the boat, through a hole in the deck where all the other cable/wires/hoses go, and it come out of another hole under the dash. It is getting stuck when I try to pull it through, about half-way in.
My problem is there is no way to access it. The boat is all alluminum, and pop-riveted. The sides of the battery compartment and coolers all have walls preventing you from accessing the side of the boat where the wires/hoses/cables run.
Are there there any tricks I can try to get this wire through?

Not sure if you are getting stuck trying to pull the rope through, or if you have the rope through and are trying to pull the new cable but I guess it only matters if you are stuck once or possibly twice.
Also, don't know how big around the rope is and how you have it connected to the cable. smaller diameter is better and making as smooth a tape job as possible could help. For that distance I would have pulled a wire fish through. That way I could push and pull. Let's assume that nothing could help and you had to get to it, are there any hatches with storage areas along the way? I know its a hassle to remove one, but you could end up spending less time doing that and getting right to the problem then to keep banging your head on it. Avoid live wells if possible, but even that would be a possibility. Its just more disassembly.
pull it back and tape it so it makes a smooth tapper, and it would help to have someone @ the other end and c-saw it back and forth, hope this helps
