Ohio River at Falls

What does the river need to be at for good fishing here. And does anyone know if all the gate are still running like they gave been, I have been told this :I think the water level has to be around 11 or 12 ft. below the dam before you can walk out on the fossil beds. Also, they need to be running around 2-5 ft. of dam on the upper to have current. If there is no current you might as well stay at home. If this is true when do you think it will be this way. I want to go but here lately everytime I go down there it looks like Niagara Falls. Also can you still drive across mcalpine dam and fish off the bank next to the hydro. I know you could at one time ,

yes they have re-opened the bridge over the lock and you can park up by the Hydro and walk down and fish off the bank again.Try up by #1 hydro and get some rattling rouges and carolina rig them with about 1/1 1/2 oz of lead throw it right up by the hydro wall and hold on !! The hybrids should be up there soon.The level is a bit high now but when the river comes down & clears up it should be on!
