pwc operation in a no ski area

2 weeks ago at Nolin we watched a rider playing hard, doing aggressive tricks on a pwc inside a creek arm that was marked with no ski buoyies across the entrance,,, these marked areas are no-ski because they have dangerous conditions...stumps,shallow water etc. my question is, are no-ski areas legal for pwc operation or to be more specific to be used as a playground? I looked in the boating guide and found nothing on this. What are your thoughts? My biggest problem was that we went inside the no ski-area to get away from the excessive traffic waves on the main lake and this guy was making nonstop waves....

I would think that the areas are restricted to the act of skiing, not jet skis. Since a jet ski is a PWC, it may considered as a form of boat.

Not totally for sure, but I think the "No Ski" buoys are meant to prohibit skiing in general, but not the use of jet skis.

Sorry about that guy washing out your spot........I think they should be outlawed all together. I'm sure everyone on this board has had an incident or two with jet skiers.

In my opinion, keep in mind I really have no idea, Jet Skis would be legal while anyone/thing being pulled by a rope would not. My $.02

I've had just as many if not more incidents with pleasure boaters and rude fisherman. They pay their taxes and registration fees just like you and have just as much right to public waterways. Whether its PWC, boats, cars or guns, the problems are the operators not the equipment.

They are allowed anywhere a boat can go. As far as the trick if they are caught doing them they can be ticked for wreckless driving.

A no ski area for pwc, boats, etc means obviously no ski but you better not do anything but drive a straight line. If you are cought in a boat or a pwc doing any tricks or riding back and forth you will be ticketed. Straight from the guy who wrote a girl I knew last year a ticket in a no ski for riding her waverunner in a zig zag way.

While it may or may not be illegal to ride PWC in a no-ski area, it is at least a sure fire bonehead thing to do as these areas have stickups and are not cleared for regular boat use! That is why they are "no-ski" areas, along with no wake zones. Not very bright, but I guess that is why they own a PWC anyway!! Probably from OH as well.

In time he/she will learn their lesson the hard way. I am at the point I hate even going to the lake to fish from a boat! Should sell my fishing boat and get a pleasure boat.
