Any good mechanics???

I bought a small Sprint boat from a buddy of mine that had had a 48 hp Rude on & he had a 70 hp Johnson put on it. Tach isn't right. It,s a teleflex & has the little pulse adjustment on back of it(1,2,3,4,5). It's showing more rpm than it's actually turning( somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 more (7100rpm per guage)Which setting should the pulse screw be set in to bring it more to the norm? Thanks
