Trolling motor help!!!

I was loading my boat up after a day of fishing with my son. We were in pretty shallow water waiting for the truck to be backed onto the ramp. I was using the trolling motor to keep us on line with the ramp. He and I started talking and I forgot to pull up my trolling motor before trying to load the boat. "CRUCH, what the heck was that?"So now my trolling atm is slightly bowed. Can anyone give suggestions on how to bent it back?

Well replacement is always the best option, but if not I would try this. Start with a piece of flat wood. i.e. 2x6 2x8 2x10 or a piece of 3/4 plywood. Place some 16 penny nails in the board so that the upper end of the shaft is held in place. Now place a few nails further down the shaft stopping at where the bend begins. Slowly work the shaft by pushing against the nails. As you work the bend out, you may find that adding more nails as you go along will be helpful. Now for sue this is probably not the best method, and it may not work if the shaft is to thick. If it is really stubborn ask around and see if anyone has a pipe bender for household plumbing. Clamp one side down and work the bender slowly down till you get it where you want it.

I would try the pipe bender, do you know any electricians that have a pipe bender? If you do, get the O.D of the shaft, outside demention. I would try that, it may save a couple of bucks. If you dont know an electrician try to call your local hardware or electrical supply shop they might help you out. If your in covington ky try aa electrical and ask them, good group of guys. I had a sump pump switch go out at the house and they sold the switch to me and when I got there I asked about the gaskets on the housing and he said to make it easy on me he gave me a new switch and gasket and housing and arm built in, already to go, just wire it up for 25.00 bucks.

Thanks for the help guys. I will try the pipe bender. The way I see it, if I mess it up more, I will still need to buy another shaft.
