    First Time to Dale Hollow

I am heading down to Dale Hollow this weekend for the first time. Looks like we'll be down on the TN side. None of the other folks I am going with really fish much, but we have pontoon for two days so I am taking my gear and am going to do the best I can to catch something. I really have never fished clear water much. Any advice from you Hollow veterans? I was hoping to get a hold of a brown fish, but I would be happy landing anything. Any advice?

To get the brown fish, you'll have to fish early am, late pm or at night, but if you want some fun when the sun is higher, tie on a #4 hook put a BB split shot 6-12 in above the hook and put on a red worm, find the weeds, cast out and get to the bottom. Bring the bait in very slow and hang on. If you catch a fish, throw out a marker. You could fish for an hour or more with nothing. The bluegill and redear(shellcracker) hold in very small areas and if you find them, you could have a ball. I have never fished a lake with as many big bluegill and redear. 9 in. bluegill and 10 in. red ear are common. Good fishing. Brown fish are lots of fun, but the bluegill and redear fishing on Dale Hollow can be fantastic, especially if you are on a pontoon boat with a lot of people who don't care about catching fish. If you want brown fish, you'll have to go with a gang that is a little more serious about fishing.

anyfish.......you da man....I appreciate the help. We used your method and caught about 20 good sized bluegill. We took them back anf fried them up in the fry daddy for dinner. With the crew I was with they were excited to have some fresh caught fish to eat. Thanks for the help.
